Telangana Agitation heats up again as students battle in Osmania Campus. Give peace a chance while commission deliberates!
The announcement of Terms of Reference of the Srikishna Panel has been greeted with rebellion. 12 MLAs have resigned and they hope others will follow. Student leaders have no trust in political parties and is agitating on their own
Semester exams due to start on Monday has been postponed again. Students may lose a year if they do not go back to class and put a stop to arson at least for the next 2 months. Crucial entrance exams are on the way and students need to first ensure that they do not lose an year.
Now that the Commission is in place and its been asked to "Examine the demands of a separate state of Telangana as well as the demands for maintaining the present status of a united Andhra Pradesh" and give its recommendation its for the people to convince the commission as to why the State be divided.
If the vast majority in Telangana believe that it should be separated, there should be very just and valid reasons behind that and if that is so then definitely the commission would be convinced. If there is more than 100% solid reasons for division due to economic backwardness, then it should be possible easily for the leaders to bring those out and make the commission aware of that and convince it.
Lets hope sense will prevail and the involved Parties will tackle the matter across the negotiating Table, strongly, than shedding blood on the street
After all, the economic activities need to happen smoothly and incidents should not drive away opportunities. Look at the possible loss of IPL matches. Thousands of people in Hyderabad & Vizag would have been directly or indirectly benefited . From tea and cigarette vendors, laborers, sundry material suppliers, auto drivers, artists to event managers. Money which should flow to these people suddenly vanishes.
Comment :
Students have never been and will never be the right group to spearhead any agitation. They get easily influenced and as a group definitely can not be expected to have the maturity and thinking to know what is right or wrong. They would act impulsively. Its for the matured political leaders to take them into confidence and lead the struggle in a responsible manner
Unfortunately in AP, Political leadership seem to be acting whenever students flare up! And they act to pacify students, temporarily. There is no extended engagement seen to educate student groups and draw up a cohesive action plan to present the case before commission and to attain the objective in a planned, professional manner.
