(Excl Ventures News) A near unanimous view emerged at the launch of the relay hunger strike camp of all-party Telangana Joint Action Committee (JAC) here on Saturday about enforcing its January 28 deadline for resignation of MLAs of all parties to mount pressure on the Central government to concede the demand for separate Telangana.
The camp which will last up to January 28 was also one in demanding that the Centre spell out its stand on separate Telangana and start the process of creating the State within a timeframe.
Former Congress Minister R. Damodar Reddy warned that the people would organise bandhs in Telangana voluntarily from January 29 if the MLAs did not quit their posts by then.
However, he expected the Centre to come up with an announcement before that. Former Home Minister K. Jana Reddy said the people aspired to know the stand of the Centre and the timeframe within which it would start the process of creation of Telangana State. He urged the government not to create doubts among them about its motives, lest they resort to destruction. The Centre should see the seriousness of the problem, he said.
TDP leader Nagam Janardhan Reddy warned that, barring some exceptions, all the 119 MLAs from Telangana would resign by January 28 and get their papers approved by Speaker the next day. The Ministers from the region were no exception to the norm. They would incur the wrath of people if they did not put in their papers, he said.
