(Excl Ventures News) With a pro-active governor E S L Narasimhan breathing down his neck, CM K Rosaiah appears to have "resolved to turn a new leaf" in the New Year and convince everyone that there is a government in the state and that he is at the helm of affairs.
Towards this end, a series of meetings with industrialists , officials and elected representatives has been planned over the next few weeks beginning with a meeting of collectors and SPs in Hyderabad on January 20 and 21. A meeting of all industrial captains with the CM will be held within a week, one official said.
While the industrialists will be reassured that their assets will be protected and they need not think of shifting to other cities, the CMs office and industries department officials are lobbying with the Centre to convince Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to visit the state and lay the foundation stone for the BHELNTPC power plant in Chittoor. The ceremony has been delayed at least four times and put on hold since the law and order situation began to deteriorate . A visit by the PM will reassure everyone that all is well in the state, an official said.
Rosaiah government also intends to lobby hard to keep the National Mineral Development Corporations (NMDC) steel plant in the state. After having decided to set up the plant in AP, the PSU appears to be having second thoughts. We have requested Union minister of state for steel K Sai Pratap to talk to NMDC officials and remove their apprehensions , the official said.
From Jan. 22, Rosaiah will hold district review meetings in which officials and elected representatives will be present . The issues to be reviewed include drought/flood-relief , power supply, PDS, Rajiv Arogyashri , irrigation projects and Indiramma housing.
Sources said Union home minister P Chidambaram is said to have conveyed to the CM that the impression in New Delhi is that the state government is highly ineffective and that he should take immediate steps to set it right.

With JAC threatening to go back to streets from 28th, it would be interesting to see whether the CM's resolution to turn a new leaf has really happened or not!
