Based on a complaint lodged by a businessman,Central Crime Station (CCS) police have registered a criminal case against DLF Universal Ltd and its directors for alleged cheating and causing a loss of Rs 2.4 crore to the victim.
According to the first information report (FIR) registered on December 3,CCS officials have registered cases against DLF chairman KP Singh,vice-chairman Rajeev Singh, director Piya Singh and six others under sections 406 (Criminal breach of trust),420 (Cheating),468 (Forgery for purpose of cheating),120-B (Criminal conspiracy) of the Indian Penal Code.
Businessman K Prabhakar Reddy,in his complaint, stated that the management of DLF Commercial Complex Limited, which merged with DLF Universal Limited, informed him that they were the owners of land (8-2-349,349/1,349/1/1,349/1/2) on Road No.3,Banjara Hills. However,he claimed the documents shown to him were forged ones. The representatives told me that they propose to construct DLF Towers, which is meant for commercial use,and the property value will escalate by at least three times. So,I booked 12 units of office space by paying Rs 2.4 crore through cheques in the name of my wife, two sons and myself. We were promised delivery of office space units by March,2011, Prabhakar said in his complaint.
Though DLF representatives claimed they were absolute owners of the proposed complex,Prabhakar Reddy discovered that the land was owned by Vansh Builders Pvt Ltd,SBPV Infrastructure,Alastair Builders and Developers Pvt Ltd,Gavin Builder and Developer Pvt Ltd,Callisata Builders and Constructions and Amoda Builder and Developers.
All these companies through an agreement formed an association of persons (AOP) by signing a memorandum of understanding and authorised a few among them to develop, construct, market and sell on behalf of the land owners. The AOP,in turn, authorized the DLF to market and accept the amount of consideration on their behalf. However,in a letter to Prabhakar Reddy,Vansh Builders and SBPL Infrastructure stated that they had not authorised DLF to sell office space, the FIR said.
Prabhakar Reddy alleged that in spite of several requests there was no response from DLF.He visited the venture site in September,2011 and to his shock found that construction had not even started. On enquiry,he discovered that Vansh Builders and SBPL Infrastructure were 50% owners of built up area in the proposed DLF Towers. By showing forged documents they induced me to part with my hard-earned money, he stated in the complaint.
