(Excl Ventures News.)Refuting criticism about flight of investment due to withdrawal of the incentives, Major Industries Minister Kanna Lakshminarayana listed out a number of new projects on the anvil and announced a more attractive industrial policy for 2010-15 would be unveiled shortly.
Admitting that investments suffered for four months due to agitations for and against forming Telangana state with a stoppage of investment enquiries, the Minister held that the situation changed later as Chief Minister K. Rosaiah provided a stable government. At a media conference here on Thursday, he said the Rs. 6,000-crore power plant equipment plant project proposed to be set up by BHEL and NTPC at Mannavaram near Srikalahasti had not been shifted and the government was trying to get an appointment with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to lay the foundation-stone.
Similarly, the Caparo group, for which the earlier land allotment was cancelled, was going ahead with its Rs. 1,000-crore project at Nellore. There were fresh investment enquiries from Hindustan Glassware (Rs.16,00 crore) at Nellore, Tata helicopter unit (Rs.1,000 crore), Hyderabad, Sarada Metal Alloys (Rs.2,000 crore), Vizianagaram, SBQ Steels (Rs.1,000 crore), Kadapa, Hyundai automobile parts (Rs. 200 crore), Nellore, Impex Steels ( Rs.3,000 crore ) Kadapa, Jaggiahpet-Alkatech Cements (Rs. 1,200 cr) Anantapur.
Comment : AP & Hyderabad has seen little REAL investment by Indusrties during last 2 years. Even the few proposals like Tata Helicopter Unit has not come off yet. Govt need to create an exciting atmosphere for industries. Looking for short term gains will damage the State''s Economic Development
